There are about 50 teachers and about 500 students in the high school and 150 in the IB-study programme (2005). Oulun Lyseon Lukio has been offering IB-study programme in English starting 1992. There are also some distance education programmes for small towns of Ylikiiminki and Tyrnävä. == History == In the autumn of 1874, Oulun lyseo started as a private Lyceum and it adopted Finnish as the official academical language. During the 1880s the school was admitted state aid and gradually the schools ownership was changed as state owned.
